It is hard to estimate the impact of crime based on this development.
It is a public place which is a fairly large development in a small area of land with much of the public parking underground.
The development is bordered on one side by the freeway with no access.
There will be some crime associated with this development just due to the fact that there is nothing there now and wherever there are businesses, parking, late nights and residents, there are bound to be some issues. But there is no way to estimate the types and frequency at this stage.
It is not intended to be similar to the environment off River Road where there are regular crime reports.
There will be more traffic going through the neighborhoods and exiting from I-93 to get to and from this development and there will be more traffic on the side streets.
In addition, there will be a concentrated collection of restaurants which may increase the frequency of impaired drivers in Andover.
Questions:
What is the developer going to do about security? Will there be private security? Security cameras? A security office?
How does the developer intend to assure the public and the residents that this development will not result in an increase in crime?
