Local Neighborhoods

Residents have raised concerns about the impact to the neighborhoods beyond traffic and schools.

Here are some additional concerns:

  • Lights from the development at night
  • Noise from the development from the events, construction
  • Additional noise from increased traffic on the freeway exits
  • Pollution from stalled traffic in and around the development
  • Increased foot traffic through neighborhoods
  • Increased litter due to additional vehicles

Please let us know at comments@thedascombrdproject.org if there are other concerns to be added to this list.

Questions:

How will the developer, the town, the state, and the federal government address these issues?

Vehicular traffic heading East on Dascomb Road is a huge issue now. Andover police have actually tried varying tactics from signage to traffic stops to stop cut through traffic to Lawrence and points East and North of the Dascomb Road neighborhoods with great efforts but little result. They work hard and frankly, have other issues to address. I don’t see the improvements to the Dascomb Road artery and addition of what is at best a guesstimate of an additional 1000 extra cars per day for the office, retail, and residential footprint alleviating what will likely get worse. We have had people constantly use our driveway as a turnaround due to 93N traffic volume and have even had cars pull in our second driveway to sleep or attempt to poach internet (unsuccessfully) and the license plates are both MA and NH when we do have a chance to talk with them before they speed away. I don’t expect those transient commuters/travelers use of near the highway driveways to decrease but increase. Better flow off of the 93 North offramp to Dascomb Rd will only increase traffic attempting to use Dascomb and Lovejoy as their own personal raceway/shortcut. Mitigate this with persistent Law Enforcement presence and traffic enforcement in this area and the greater good of the town and it’s schools will be easier to swallow. As of now, this neighborhood less than 1/10 of a mile East of the project and their traffic concerns have been largely ignored. Thanks for allowing resident input.
